Experience one of Walt’s favorite creations in the Enchanted Tiki Room in Adventureland, where you can hear tropical birds and tiki gods show off their musical and rhythmical talent.
Touring Tips!
- The show features a preshow a few minutes before the show starts, which is pretty cute and worth seeing.
- This ride is definitely a must see- full of classic Disney nostalgia and it’s just plain fun!
- Also, it’s air conditioned with comfortable seating, and also does not have long waits.
- For those of you who haven’t been in the past year, the Under New Management version of the ride with Iago and Zazu has been replaced with the original after a fire broke out.
- The show is about 15 minutes long.
Hidden Mickeys
- At the bottom of two perches, a Mickey is hidden. One is to the left as you enter, and the other is to the right as you exit.
- On the statue to the right of the entrance, Mickeys are formed on the tiki god’s face.
Fun Facts
- This attraction first opened in 1963 in Disneyland and was the first attraction ever to feature audio-animatronics. Which is pretty damn impressive. It was originally sponsored by United Airlines.
- The original WDW version (which was identical to the Disneyland one) was opened with the park and was called Tropical Serenade.
- The original plan for ETR was for it to be a restaurant with birds serenading the guests. The fountain in the middle was intended to be a coffee station, and still has storage built in it!
- The ride technology for ETR when it first opened was so incredible that traffic jams were caused in Adventureland because people wanted to catch a glimpse of the barker bird, Juan.
- There are over 150 audio-animatronics part of the Tiki Room “cast” and 314 figures altogether. All of them are originals from the first.
- The attraction’s theme song, among others, was written by the legendary Sherman Brothers.
- The late Jerry Orbach (Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast) voices the most recent Pierre, and Wally Boag, Fulton Burley, and Thurl Ravenscroft voice Jose, Michael, and Fritz respectively.
