Lately, it’s been scorchingly hot enough to deter guests from autograph lines, giving characters a few minutes to play if their line ends early. A few days ago, for example, I was working Fish ‘n’ Chips in UK and Alice finished her line. She danced to British Revolution’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” by herself and with this random old guy (and me, from afar) before talking to the Fish ‘n’ Chips workers.
Today, I was in France for restrooms, which is my favorite spot to character watch; we have Belle, Beast, Aurora, AND Marie, for heavens sake.I was standing with a few other custodians at the cast entrance when we noticed Belle and Beast finished their lines. We moved to let them pass, shocked when instead they walked over to the crepe and ice-cream stand. Unfortunately, I was too far away to catch any words exchanged, but they’re excellent at miming. ;)
Belle was chatting with the boys in the stand while Beast read over the menu, eventually getting Belle’s attention and pointing frantically to something on the menu. He then began stroking the menu like it was His Precious, and she laughed and turned to the guys in the stand again, pointing at the menu. She started to look in her basket, like she was looking for money, and of course all Belle had was her book. So she pulls that out, opening it up and showing it to the guys in the stand.
Unfortunately for Beast, books don’t buy ice cream, so she turned to Beast and sadly put her hand on his shoulder, saying something. IMMEDIATELY, he slumped and shrunk about a foot, stomping away from the ice cream place dejectedly. Belle rubbed his back, saying something (probably assuring him they’d get ice cream later) and walked past us to go home. On the way, they passed Marie who wondered why Beast was so sad. Belle explained, and she threw her hands up on her face in sympathy. Beast just shrugged and left with Belle.
If you think I don’t work in the best location in the world, you’re wrong.
